They still don't get it. Calling this world a flat world. As if there is space left. Or there can be competition as we know it. In the Web, there is only a singularity. My point and yours are the same point. It is just a click, and it is instant. You can be at where i was, or where i am not, it does not matter.
You arrive at only one point. There can be no other point. When Yahoo! misses the point, Google takes over, and now they took 'the point'. As they say in the battelfield, "Take the point, Jo". It means you take the lead.
I do not see any other web presence able to maintain a 2nd point for long. Yahoo! is doomed. Google will soon be, when they went public and the masses don't jive with it. It is a matter of time that some other dotcom takes over, and it is another viscious cycle again.
With Redhat services now under attack by Oracle's, it is another case in cheek. Their business model relies on a flat world premise, that with all things been equal, they can reach any corner of the earth by just one click. Well, so can Oracle.
We had SixDegrees, Friendster, MySpace and now it is YouTube. All this drama in between, just awed so many bloggers and news out there. You skim them and you see a pattern, a philosophy, nay, a new epistemology - The World Is A Singularity.
